St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is shining a spotlight on the talented volunteers who are making a significant difference in the lives of patients and families. These dedicated individuals are using their skills in knitting, crocheting and quilting to create special items that bring comfort and joy to those in need.
The hospital’s 3 Wishes ICU patients in palliative care are recipients of cozy blankets donated by these volunteers. Meanwhile the Women’s and Infant’s program receives adorable baby hats and receiving blankets, which help newborns conserve heat and regulate their body temperature.
This year, many of the volunteers who have donated their time and talents will be receiving milestone awards for their contributions. Their handmade items are truly cherished by patients and families and often become keepsakes that are treasured long after their hospital stay.
As St. Joe’s continues to celebrate the contributions of our volunteers, we are reminded of the power of community and difference that can be made when people come together to support one another. The thoughtful donations of these talented volunteers are a testament to the kindness and compassion that exists in the community, and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton is grateful to have them as part of the volunteer team.
