Message from the President

Since joining St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, I’m consistently impressed at the countless ways we serve our community in our day-to-day work. To that end, I am amazed at the impact our care and compassion has well beyond our hospital walls. In these particularly difficult times, I’m humbled to be a part of an organization that has such a long and storied history of serving the most vulnerable citizens in our community. One of the ways we can continue to offer our support is through our annual United Way campaign at St. Joe’s.

We know that COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted the most vulnerable people in our community. I’m proud at how St. Joe’s has evolved to try to meet the needs of those at most risk over these last few months. However, this work cannot be done alone. By supporting dozens of local agencies offering vital services to thousands of people in our community, many of whom are patients of St. Joe’s, the United Way has continued to meet the needs of those at the greatest risk during these challenging times. United Way Halton and Hamilton exists to create a measurable improvement on priority social issues in our community by focusing on three specific areas: moving people from poverty to possibility, creating healthy communities and helping kids be all they can be. Whether it be by providing meals safely to adults with developmental disabilities by staff with PPE, virtually connecting isolated seniors to music therapy, or offering contactless care packages to street involved youth, the United Way has been there, and will continue to be there, to change lives, right here at home.

The 2020 United Way campaign at St. Joe’s is aiming to fundraise $25,000. We hope you will consider making an ongoing donation through a payroll deduction. Signing up is easy – just follow the instructions on this page.

Thank you for giving to the 2020 United Way campaign.

Sincerely,
Melissa Farrell, President
St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton
