Our Community

Located less than 70 kilometres south of Toronto, nestled on the west-end shoreline of Lake Ontario, Hamilton is the third largest city in Ontario and quickly becoming a go-to city for people looking for a community that offers the best of all worlds. Surrounded by spectacular nature (Lake Ontario, the Niagara Escarpment), Hamilton is also a distinct urban centre with a vibrant art and culture scene.

Those with an affinity for outdoor recreation and leisure will enjoy the natural playground of hiking, cycling, boating, and other outdoor adventures Hamilton’s unique location provides.

As you explore Hamilton, you’ll also find award-winning restaurants as acclaimed chefs offer tastings inspired by the high-quality seasonal produce across the region. With a growing local food truck scene, Hamiltonians love the sense of community and connection that comes with a curbside meal. Sport and entertainment enthusiasts will enjoy Hamilton’s professional football team (CFL), the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the variety of music and entertainment offered at the city’s premiere entertainment venues: Hamilton Place, First Ontario Centre, and the Molson Canadian Studio.

Hamilton is also home to several post-secondary institutions, most notably, McMaster University (home to the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine). In addition, Brock University of located in St. Catharines, Ontario has a satellite campus in Hamilton used primarily for teacher education. Also located in Hamilton is Mohawk College, the #1 ranked college in the Greater-Toronto-Hamilton area in 2012/13 based on student key performance indicators.
